Norma McCullough


This exhibit showcases the life and memories of Norma McCullough. Norma was born in 1937 in Belfast and her early memories record experiences of Blitz. In the documents, life stories and images displayed here Norma describes her memories of a happy family life. She reminds us all that it is never too late to shine through her own life experiences of returning to education in her retirement years.

Childhood and Early Life

This section of the exhibit details the childhood and early life of Norma.  She describes her early memories of life in Belfast at that time and her memories of the Blitz and World War II.

Adolescence and Early Adulthood

The life story and image displayed in this section of the exhibit relate to Norma's adolescence and early adulthood. She remembers moving house and the importance of her close friends.

Marriage and Family

This section of the exhibit displays some family photographs which represent Norma's memories and experiences of marriage and family life. These photographs document her wedding day and her children as they were growing up.


This section of the exhibit displays images which describe the activities and interests of Norma in her retirement years. In particular, the section documents her return to education and her growing family.
