After retirement my friend and I joined some classes. A cookery class we joined was a great success, not that I became a great cook! There were eighteen ladies at the beginning but two or three dropped out. We were all retired ladies with a view to learning a little about cookery, but there to enjoy ourselves. The lady instructing us was very outgoing and had a great sense of humour. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I looked forward to going every week. We had a cup of tea and sampled the cookery, savoury and sweet dishes, which were enjoyed. I also joined a sewing class which also very enjoyable. I managed to make several garments fit to wear. Despite the fun we had, we did some work. I took up bowls made some good friends, enjoyed the game but never became a special player.
